Fast Food Salt Overload
 #

"..this survey shows that the salt levels in some of these meals are staggeringly high" says Prof. Graham MacGregor of Consensus Action on Salt and Health. Worst offenders were found to be Pizza Hut, and Kentucky Fried Chicken.  Excess salt in our meals has been found to increase blood pressure which can lead to more serious conditions.

Whilst Pizza Hut claim to have reduced salt in many of their meals, their 'Meat feast Italian pizza plus'' also the "Mediterranean meat feast Italian pizza plus'' were found to contain 9.7g of salt which is more than the safe recommended 6g daily intake of salt for an adult. A party of 4 ordering the 'Meal Deal' will eat 12.3g of salt per person.

"How can these companies justify selling food that contains more than the maximum daily limit for adults and children in a single meal?" Although the companies involved had this information on their websites nothing is available when you order the food to assist an informed diet choice.

Survey results
CASH surveyed 346 individual food and drink items from Pizza Hut, Burger King, Kentucky Fried Chicken and Mc.Donalds.
