Living nearby it didn't take me long to discover La Rec as I explored Les Arques' mediaeval church and Ossip Zadkine gallery. I don't eat meat so rural eating out isn't easy as local cuisine is often duck and goose based. La Rec's menu always incudes delicious fish starters and main courses and their desserts are out of this world!! Friends from afar all want to dine there every visit

We have stayed nearby in idylic surroundings in Massarat for past couple of years and always look forward to an evening at La Recreation. Even with teenage kids its a joy, but don't arrive without booking or calling ahead you'll be dissappointed, as it is popular with locals and tourists alike and fills up quickly from 7pm! Evening Thunderstorms July Aug means try to get table undercover on left

I was determined to eat here after reading michaels book and took a long detour to Les Arques, the effort wasn't wasted, the food was gorgeous, setting and service beautiful with the most delicious local wine. A wonderful experience, and also thanks to the american group who invited me and my dog to join their table. chris waddilove, dorset. uk

We read the book and found La Recreation and have celebrated many occasions there since. The France you dream about through the long winters.

We have a country house nearby and are regular visitors to this restaurant over many years.Probably the best in the region with an international menu with a choice of six starters and as many main dishes.A welcome change from the many duck based meals served in the region.Friendly staff to boot.

Have dined at La Recre many times over the last few years and it is our favourite restaurant. It is not just the food, which is wonderul, but the atmosphere created by Noelle who has to be the best 'front of house' ever. We will be there again this year and cannot tell you how much we are looking forward to the being there. 15 04 2

Our first visit to La Recreation was a reunion on the last day it was open last year, with friends who lived locally and whom we had met the year before. Everything about La Recreation was first class and we enjoyed every single moment. Needless to say, we are about to make another reservation now that Spring is here and they have hopefully re opened .

A friend and I stayed at a B and B in the area and having read Michael Sanders book, had the owner make us a reservtion. It was the best meal I have ever eaten and the service and presentation were a delight as was the patio and the wisteria covered porch.

My husband and I have stayed in a tiny Medievil village Belves on four occasions and it was on our last trip we read about La Recre and had to go. Lunch was wonderful driving home not so but we shall return again next year for the Lobster ravioli. I read Mr Sander's book several years ago and have been visiting the restaurant almost every year since.Next month I am flying directly into Toulouse only because it is closer to La Recreation than Paris, and my intention is to drive straight to Les Arques! I can no longer enjoy lobster ravioli anywhere else,because I only compare it to La Recré and end up disappointed. I love it! SF,CA
