Restaurant Description
Welcome to Hakkasan, one of the hottest Chinese restaurants in London, where East meets West and cool glamour is the order of the day.
Hidden away in London's West End, Hakkasan is reached via a staircase leading up from the sidestreet that is Hanway Place. Passing through the blossom-scented cloakroom, guests descend into another world of beautifully lit, oriental sophistication.
The owner and seasoned restauranteur Alan Yau has created an exclusive atmosphere for his flagship restaurant and is about to replicate the model in Dubai. Having successfully brought his previous ventures, including the Japanese restauant chain Wagamama, to fruition, he hopes to do the same across the globe for the ultra-chic Hakkasan.
Back to London and it is Tong Chee Hwee who commands the kitchens with an experienced eye. His philosophy is to start with traditional Chinese, and predominently Cantonese, cuisine and bring it right up to date.
The dark, sultry decor was dreamed up by French designer Christian Liaigre who has fused distinctly modern lighting, colours and ambience with traditional Chinese motifs.
