Restaurant Description
Hof van Cleve is a bastion of elegance in the Belgian region of Flanders. The restaurant was opened in 1992 by Peter and Lieve Goossens, native to the area and who decided to turn the 19th century buildings into one of the finest restaurants in the country.
The restaurant is named after a Mr Van Cleve, a hermit who used to live in the buildings long ago. The Goossens have created an atmosphere of ultimate tranquillity and calm from the moment that you cross the threshold. The gentle, modern décor of the dining room, designed by Antoine Pinto, makes for a calming experience which extends into the kitchens, where Peter Goossen takes command.
Goossen has been described as a generous chef, who gives a lot of heart to his cooking and to his customers. The dishes take advantage of the wealth of the North Sea and from the bountiful countryside of Flanders.
The warm welcome to be received at Hof van Cleve comes from Lieve who oversees the front of house, and from Peter's elegant, locally sourced, traditional cooking.
