Restaurant Description
Officially Britain's tallest restaurant, Panoramic is located on the 34th floor of Liverpool's West Tower, reaching 100m above sea level and, as the name suggests, affords stunning panoramic views of the city and beyond. On clear days, lucky diners are even able to spy the rolling Welsh hills and the famous Manchester Hilton hotel.
The restaurant was opened on 1st February 2008 and local famous names packed out the cosy 70-seater bar and restaurant to welcome in a new gastronomic era for the northwest.
Chef Director Chris Marshall's goal is to bring the restaurant up to world standard and put Liverpool on the culinary map. Between himself and the French Head Chef Marc Lara, they have devised a menu that is decidedly French with some Italian influences. Both Marshall and Lara have worked in some of the most acclaimed restaurants in France and England, including La Table du Baltimore in Paris and Gary Rhodes' Rhodes & Co in Manchester.
For Marshall, the job this may prove to be a dream challenge, but unfortunately it might not be his dream location. "I'm terrified of heights," Chris told the Liverpool Daily Echo. "When I first came up here I had to stand about 20 feet away from the glass. I'm getting a bit better, but I still can't get too close. I daren't look down."
