Restaurants in Switzerland
Switzerland cuisine is famous for being based on dairy products. Milk, gruyere cheeses, cream and
yoghurt are often used in many dishes of this region. However the finest international dining can
be found here in the
restaurants of Geneva
, or the
Zurich brasserie
. The kitchens of Italy France
and Germany have had a major influence in most large restaurants, but still the simple fresh local
farm produce supplies many small family restaurant bistros and bars.
Latterly there have even been several Arabic and Turkish eateries springing up in this normally highly
conservative culture, although they seem to have focussed on the fast food business.
Dining in Bern
or relaxing at a bar in Lausanne can be often a country like experience with the olde worlde style and
low wooden beams, alhough you will be hard pressed to find many vegetarian at a
Grenoble restaurant
or other major cities, although times are changing fast.
