Restaurant Description
The story of the hotel and restaurant La Cote St Jacques is also the story of one of the most renowed gastronomic families in all of France. Their expertise in the domain of hospitality and cuisine render the Lorain family one of the most respected in the country and current chef Jean-Michel Lorain literally grew up in a classically gastronomic environment, adding strings to his bow with each year that passes.
La Cote St Jacques, situated 90 minutes from Paris in the Burgundy region of France, was first opened sixty years ago by Jean-Michel's grandmother Marie Lorain, whose ambition was to create a homely bed and breakfast. In the years to come, Jean-Michel's father Michel proceeded to take the reins in the kitchen, earning the restaurant 2 Michelin Stars before the arrival of his son, Jean-Michel.
The young man had « burnished his shield » at top restaurants such as Taillevent in Paris and Troigros, thus he soon became a formidable and experienced presence in the kitchen. Together, the father and son duo attained their 3rd Michelin Star in 1986 and Jean-Michel was named Chef of the year by the Gault Millau Guide in the same year.
